Tom "Shepherding" His Flock
Bourbon Reds are a heritage breed turkey recognized by the APA. They are a very pretty bird for either exhibition or just for the backyard. They are active foragers and able to fly so that they can roost high off the ground, where they are safer from predators (ours roost in the barn rafters). They are also quite hardy (our trio made it through the winter, free to come and go as they wished in the barn). One of our hens and Tom both survived animal attacks from either the local coons or coyotes relatively unscathed – except for feather loss.

What is the cost of a breeding hen, and tom seperately?
Thanks for your response

We don’t have any ‘breeding’ age available right now. We kept over 3 hens and 2 toms. They haven’t started to lay yet (too cold still). We will hopefully have poults later this spring. When we do have adult birds, they would probably start at $25, depending on their age.
